What is the Interfraternity Council? ›

The Interfraternity Council, also known as IFC, is the governing body for fraternities on campus. The IFC is responsible for creating policies, promoting academic excellence, and planning formal recruitment and other activities for the fraternities.

Per NIC Standards, all men must have a 2.5 GPA or higher to be eligible to join. The NIC opposes any recruitment requirement placed on fraternities that is not equally applied to all registered student organizations. The NIC opposes any recruitment restriction that infringes on free speech and associational rights.

The Interfraternity Council (IFC) is the local governing body of the three national fraternity chapters. The Panhellenic Council is the local governing body of the five national sorority chapters.

IFC consists primarily of chapters who are members of the North-American Interfraternity Conference (NIC). The Interfraternity Council promotes the interests of fraternities in general, and insures cooperation among the different fraternities on campus.

The Inter-Sorority Council (ISC) is the governing body of 15 social sororities on the Grounds. While the ISC was only established in 1975, the first sorority at the University was founded in 1927.

We, the Interfraternity Council, exist to promote the shared interests and values of our member fraternities: leadership, service, brotherhood, and scholarship. We believe in Fraternity and that the shared values of Fraternity drive the IFC to create better communities, better chapters, and better men.

The NIC certification process begins with a multiple-choice NIC Knowledge Exam. Candidates are eligible for the NIC Knowledge Exam if they are at least 18 years old. Candidates who have passed the knowledge exam within 5 years and meet RID's educational requirement may then take the NIC Interview and Performance Exam.

Register with the portal and fill out the application form carefully. A candidate can apply for a single post only. Pay the online application fee after uploading all the documents. Submit the application and save a copy for future reference.

What is a neo in a sorority? ›

Neophyte: a new member of an NPHC organization. A member is typically referred to as a neophyte or neo for the first year after their initiation or until another line is initiated in the chapter. New Member: A woman or man who has accepted a fraternity or sorority bid in a CPC or IFC organization.

The oldest sorority on either list is Alpha Delta Pi, founded in 1851 as the Adelphean Society. It didn't officially adopt Greek letters until 1905. The oldest sorority on both lists is Delta Delta Delta, founded in 1888. The youngest sorority on either list is Alpha Gamma Delta, founded in 1904.

Our Purpose

The National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) was established in 1902 to assist collegiate and alumnae chapters of the NPC member organizations in cooperating with colleges and universities and to foster interfraternal relationships.
