What is a passing grade at Fordham? ›

Classes vary in length in the University's colleges/schools. The meeting times for classes are listed on the Course Schedule page in the portal. Classes last from 50 to 150 minutes. Some begin on the hour, some on the half-hour.

All of the schools at Fordham operate on a semester system with the exception of the Graduate School of Business Administration which operates on a trimester schedule.

A Fordham education is rigorous. We don't just expect our faculty to challenge you to be your best; we expect you to challenge yourself, too.

Fordham University admissions has an acceptance rate of 54% and an early acceptance rate of 57.7%.

Full-time students are expected to complete their coursework in four years. Students who need additional time to complete their degree due to special circ*mstances, such as illness, a change in major, etc., must complete their coursework in a period not to exceed six years.

Repeated courses will be calculated into a student's GPA and will not replace the original grade.

The normal credit load per term is five three-credit courses for first years and four four-credit courses for juniors and seniors.

For example, a student earned a 54 on the Algebra I Regents Examination in June 2022. The student's course grades in Algebra I were: Q1 – 60, Q2 – 65, Q3 – 70, Q4 – 75. The average of the student's Algebra I course grades equals 67.5. The school's passing grade is a 65.

You'll usually need to receive a letter grade between A and D to pass a class, often the numerical equivalent of 65 percent or higher. Receiving an F—which stands for “fail”—indicates that you did not pass the class.
